Panthers' Rucker Still Undecided On Future
|
The season's been over for almost a month, but Carolina Panthers defensive end Mike Rucker hasn't decided whether it was his last.
The 32-year-old Rucker has been hinting for some time that he may retire. He says he's still relaxing, but he thinks he's close to a decision. His contract expired at the end of the season. Rucker teared up after Carolina's final home game on December 22nd and he's questioned whether his body can withstand another year.
He's started 107 games and is second in team history in tackles and sacks. But Rucker's numbers declined this season. He spent the previous offseason recovering from major knee surgery. Rucker's younger brother Martin is playing in the Senior Bowl this week and hopes to be in the NFL next season.
