ATLANTA (AP) -- Carolina rookie receiver Dwayne Jarrett, a second-round pick from Southern Cal, was inactive for the third straight week Sunday against Atlanta.
Carolina coaches have said Dwayne Jarrett struggles to get off the line of scrimmage, but there was speculation he would make his debut against the Falcons.
The two receivers in front of Dwayne Jarrett, Keary Colbert and Drew Carter, combined to drop four passes in the Panthers' loss to Houston last week.
A surprise member of Atlanta's inactive list was rookie defensive tackle Trey Lewis, who had five tackles in the first two games and was not listed on the injury report.
As expected, Atlanta's newly signed quarterback Byron Leftwich was the team's third quarterback, behind starter Joey Harrington and Chris Redman. Leftwich joined the team for his first practice Wednesday after being cut by Jacksonville late in the preseason.
The Falcons continue to hold out starting defensive tackle Rod Coleman, who is recovering from preseason arthroscopic knee surgery. Initial projections had Coleman missing the first four games.
